Latino immigration issue has generated angry debate. The numbers of illegal immigrants, the degree of assimilation into American society and many other social and economic concerns are being argued about.

McClintock is responding to what the President of Mexico Felipe Calderon said on a visit to the US congress on the subject of Mexican immigration into the United States. He talks about the values of an Anglo-American society, speaking English and having total allegiance to being an American and nothing else. He talks of the E pluribus unum ("Out of the many, one") being eroded.
